Q: Where are you from?

I was born and raised in Philadelphia, PA and moved to the Jacksonville area 14 years ago where I and my amazing wife have raised our three kids.

Q: What does BJJ mean to me?

I have had the honor of practicing and teaching martial arts since I was 7 years old. It has always been a part of my life long pursuit. BJJ is not just martial arts to me it’s a way of life. It’s challenging in the best ways. Physically It teaches you that being strong is not the key, technique is. Mentally it teaches you to think your way through a situation to find a solution, and most importantly it teaches comradery and trust with your other classmates.

Q: How long have you studied martial arts?

I’ve studied martial arts for over 40 years, holding a black sash rank in Chinese Kung Fu, as well as different levels of achievement in Akido, Brazilian Capoeira, and Jiu Jitsu.

Q: Do you have a day job?

Yes, I am the President and CEO of a division of a mid-size bank.

Q: What other things do you enjoy besides Jiu Jitsu?

I am an avid bicyclist, if it has two wheels I am riding it. As well, I enjoy community service, and spending time with my family and friends.

Q: What is one thing you would say to someone thinking about joining martial arts?

Martial Arts will teach you things about yourself that you did not know existed. It’s an opportunity to improve yourself mentally and physically, but also and most importantly creates amazing opportunities to meet wonderful people of different cultures and backgrounds.

Q: What would you say to a parent thinking about signing up their child?

At Bill Jiu-Jitsu, we provide a safe nurturing environment that allows your child to gain confidence on and off the mat.
